To obtain a fossil Pokémon in Cobblemon, you must first explore a paleontological structure, brush its suspicious sand or gravel, then place the fossil in a correctly assembled Restoration Machine. Restoration also requires organic materials and a twelve-minute wait. The process therefore combines exploration, archaeology, and construction, with no command required.
Locate Fossil Sites Without Destroying Suspicious Blocks
Fossils appear in archaeological structures found across different environments. Some resemble a fallen prehistoric tree, a frozen spike, a basin, a den, or an underwater formation. Their appearance is deliberately blended into the terrain. Explore slowly and watch for variations in sand, gravel, wood, and rock instead of digging a uniform tunnel.
The official documentation consulted on September 3, 2026, specifies that fossils are obtained by using a brush on suspicious sand or suspicious gravel in these structures. Breaking a suspicious block directly risks destroying its contents. Bring several brushes, food, a bed, and equipment suited to the biome. For an underwater structure, bring what you need to breathe and surface without losing your inventory.
Not every site yields the same fossils. The Jaw Fossil, for example, can lead to Tyrunt and occurs in several land structures listed by the wiki. Old Amber leads to Aerodactyl. The Bird, Fish, Drake, and Dino Fossils combine in pairs to produce the corresponding Galar fossils. Check the official table when searching, because memorizing an old video is less reliable than verifying the current version.
Identify the Fossil and Prepare the Correct Combination
Most classic fossils correspond to one species: Dome to Kabuto, Helix to Omanyte, Root to Lileep, Claw to Anorith, Skull to Cranidos, Armor to Shieldon, Plume to Archen, Cover to Tirtouga, Jaw to Tyrunt, and Sail to Amaura. Old Amber corresponds to Aerodactyl.
The four Galar components work differently. Bird with Drake produces Dracozolt, Bird with Dino produces Arctozolt, Fish with Drake produces Dracovish, and Fish with Dino produces Arctovish. Do not start the machine until you have checked the pair: the items are raw materials for restoration, not a reusable filter.
Store each discovery in a labeled chest near your laboratory. Fossils are items, while restored Pokémon join the party or storage. Assemble the Restoration Machine’s Three Blocks
The machine is a multiblock structure composed of a Fossil Analyzer, a Restoration Tank, and a Data Monitor. The official page states that an electrical sound confirms correct assembly. If nothing happens, check the orientation and position of all three blocks before adding your resources.
The analyzer receives fossils and also supports hopper insertion. The tank receives organic materials and is also compatible with a hopper. The monitor completes the structure and displays the process. Place the structure somewhere protected, well lit, and accessible, especially on a server where other builds or land protections may interfere with interaction.
Recipes and interfaces may be adapted by a modpack. If the recipe book does not match the wiki, first check the version and addons with the Fabric and NeoForge installation guide. Do not add an administrative command to bypass a faulty assembly before identifying the cause.
Supply 64 Points of Organic Material and Wait
The tank must receive organic materials with a total value of 64, in addition to the fossil or correct combination. The official table assigns different values to seeds, plants, foods, and items. Ordinary seeds are worth little, while some rare items are worth much more. Use inexpensive renewable resources rather than a valuable item simply because it fills the gauge faster.
Once the requirements are met, an embryo begins growing in the tank. The documentation gives a twelve-minute duration to complete restoration. Wait until it finishes and avoid breaking the structure during the process. Hopper feeding can simplify organization, but automate only after one successful manual cycle.
When the embryo is ready, two options are documented. Breaking the tank releases the Pokémon as a wild creature. Right-clicking while holding a Poké Ball places the Pokémon in that ball and adds it to the party, or to storage if necessary. The second option is safer if you want to own it immediately. Prepare the ball before the cycle ends.
Secure Restoration on a Server
The wiki states that other players cannot immediately claim the Pokémon restored by the initiating player for a certain period. This protection is not a substitute for a secure area. Keep the machine sheltered, do not leave rare resources in public hoppers, and check local block protection rules.
A normal restoration does not limit any later capture. On The Tower, capture is never limited. Likewise, permadeath applies only in the Tower and during raids, nowhere else. Exploring a fossil site does not by itself create a permadeath area.
